1. Who we are

Old Tree Yard is a bonsai substrate and accessories business based in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal. "Old Tree Yard" is a trading name of a sole proprietorship owned and operated by Wesley van der Walt. We are not a registered company, so we have no company registration number, and we are not registered for VAT: no VAT is charged or shown on our prices or invoices.

3. What we sell

Bonsai growing substrate and wiring supplies, shipped nationwide by courier:

• Japanese Pumice (Hyuga), 3-6mm: heat-sealed 1L and 5L bags
• Japanese Lava Stone, 0-5mm: heat-sealed 1L and 5L bags
• Anodised aluminium bonsai wire: 100g coils in 1mm, 2mm, 3mm, and 4mm gauges

Each product page gives the full description, size, and net contents. Substrates are natural products: colour and grading vary slightly between batches. Bag volumes are measured at packing, and every bag carries a batch code so we can trace exactly which bulk stock it came from.

4. Prices

All prices are in South African Rand. The price you see on the product page is the price you pay for that item; we are not VAT-registered, so there is no VAT to add. Delivery is calculated and shown at checkout before you pay, so your final total is always in front of you before you confirm anything.

If we ever make an obvious pricing mistake on the site, we'll tell you before your order ships and give you the choice of paying the correct price or an immediate full refund.

5. Payment and payment security

We accept payment through Payfast: cards, instant EFT, and standard EFT. When you pay, you are taken to Payfast's secure payment page. Your card details go directly to Payfast and never reach or get stored by Old Tree Yard. Payfast is a registered South African payment provider that meets the payment-card industry's security standards. An order only exists once Payfast confirms your payment.

6. Ordering, dispatch, and delivery

Placing an order. Add items to your Crate, then review everything (items, quantities, delivery address, and total) on the checkout screen, where you can still change or remove anything or abandon the order entirely. Nothing is final until you complete payment.

Your record. Straight after payment you'll receive an order confirmation email with your order number and every detail of the transaction. Keep it; it's your full record. You can also request a copy of any order from us at any time, and this page can be printed or saved whenever you like.

Dispatch. We pack and dispatch within 1 business day of Payfast confirming your payment.

Delivery. We sell and deliver within South Africa only. We ship nationwide with The Courier Guy (via Bob Go). Delivery typically takes 3-5 business days depending on your area, and you'll receive a tracking number as soon as your parcel is collected. Your goods remain our risk until they're delivered to you: if something is lost or damaged in transit, that's our problem to fix, not yours.

If we can't supply. In the unlikely event an item is unavailable after you've paid, we'll tell you immediately and refund you in full, by law within 30 days and in practice much faster. If for any reason we haven't shipped within 30 days of your order, you may cancel for a full refund.

7. Returns, refunds, and your 7-day cooling-off right

You may cancel any order within 7 days after delivery, for any reason, without penalty. Defective or incorrectly supplied goods are covered for 6 months under the Consumer Protection Act. 8. Your privacy

We collect only the information needed to process and deliver your order, and we never sell it. Card details are handled entirely by Payfast. 9. Complaints and disputes

If something's wrong, contact us first, on WhatsApp or email above, and we'll put it right quickly; that is genuinely how we want to run this business.

If you're not satisfied with how we've handled a complaint, you may refer it, free of charge, to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO), the accredited ombud scheme for our industry, whose Code of Conduct we subscribe to as a registered participant: www.cgso.org.za · 0860 000 272 · complaints@cgso.org.za. 10. General

These terms are governed by South African law and don't take away any right the Consumer Protection Act, ECTA, or POPIA gives you; if anything here conflicts with those laws, the law wins. If one clause turns out to be invalid, the rest still stand. We may update this page from time to time; the version published at the moment you order is the one that applies to that order.
